Child Safety

Our commitment to safety for all students

Every student has the right to feel safe at school.

We want all children and young people who attend Wollondilly Anglican College to feel and be safe.

We are committed to providing a child-safe and child-friendly environment, where children and young people are safe, feel safe and are able to participate in decisions that affect their lives.

We have a zero tolerance for child abuse and are committed to doing what we can to keep students safe from harm.

The College regards its child safety responsibilities with the utmost importance and is committed to providing the resources required to ensure compliance with all relevant child protection laws and regulations and maintaining a child-safe culture.

Each member of the College community has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role that they play individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of students is at the forefront of all that they do and every decision that they make.

Child Safety Policy

Our Child Safe Policy outlines the key elements of our approach to child protection as a child safe organisation and sets the tone for Wollondilly Anglican College’s entire Child Safe Program. Together, our Child Safe Policy and Child Safe Program are intended to:

  • Demonstrate our strong commitment to the safety and welfare of children and young people
  • Minimise the risk of abuse, misconduct, and the misuse of positional power, and
  • Inform all adults in the school community of their obligations and responsibilities in keeping children safe.

The Board of the Anglican Schools Corporation (ASC or the Corporation) is committed to providing for the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people entrusted to our care. This Child Safe Policy has been approved by the Board for implementation across ASC schools.

Student Support Services

Student Voice

Student Voice is important and valued at Wollondilly Anglican College.

If you have concerns about the wellbeing of a friend, it is important to raise this with either a teacher or a Leader of Care & Culture. They will be able to assist you in the best way of handling your concerns. Students can use the College email to contact any teacher to raise a concern about a student, and the teacher will assist and support a course of action.

At Wollondilly, we value student feedback. This can be provided through the College Prefects, Student Representative Council (SRC) or directly to a teacher or your Year Patron.

Concerns or complaints should be raised with the teacher concerned. If you feel you are unable to approach the teacher and the matter is related to a subject-specific issue, then you should raise the matter with the respective Leader of Learning. If the matter is a Pastoral Care concern or the issue hasn’t been successfully addressed in the steps above, you should raise the matter with your Year Patron or a Leader of Care and Culture. If you would like your concerns to remain anonymous, please utilise the WAC Cares Anonymous Reporting Notification on the College Student Server.

College Captains, Prefects and the SRC play an important role in supporting the students at the College. If you have concerns, questions or feedback, approaching the College Captains, Prefects or SRC is a good step. The students in these roles will listen and provide support or direction and may also advise that the matters can be further supported through the involvement of a teacher or staff member. In relation to feedback, this may be raised and discussed at SRC Meetings, which may lead to actions related to the feedback.
