Student Leadership

Student Leadership at WAC is focused on a servant leadership model.

Students complete a nomination for the Captain roles. Student involvement in all areas of the College is reviewed as part of the process. The involvement of students in Community Service activities and College Events is highly regarded.

A vote that encompasses their direct peer group, wider peer group and the staff of the College is used as the process for electing the Captains.

Year 7 Camp

The timing of this Camp is specifically allocated to foster relationship building at the commencement of Year 7.

With a number of students coming into the College at this entry point, it provides an opportunity to develop friendships and unite the new Year 7 group. The Camp builds on skills developed at the Year 5 Camp but also provides opportunities for those students new to the College to engage in these pursuits to which they may have had limited exposure. Christian Discovery and Outdoor Recreation are again prominent features of this program.

Empowering Every Student to Succeed

We believe that if students feel safe, cared for, valued and known, students will be able to learn more effectively.

A focus on connection with peers and staff is central to the aims the College has in the area of Care. High expectations of our students drive the Culture of the College. An environment that is disciplined and orderly to support student learning and wellbeing is the outcome of these expectations.

Care and Culture Group teachers meet with students daily with a focus on building relationships and maintaining high expectations. These teachers deliver a program that supports student wellbeing, faith development and connection with others. Year Patrons support Care and Culture Group teachers and have oversight of their respective Year Groups. Year Patrons liaise with staff and parents to ensure the needs of their Year Group are understood and promoted through the Secondary Years.
